LMP/S.T.A.R.T. Program

The Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association Educational Foundation (FRLAEF) is the only organization in the state of Florida that offers the Lodging Management Program (LMP) and the Skills, Tasks and Results Training (S.T.A.R.T.)  program. 

Recognizing the need for qualified, enthusiastic professionals in the tourism industry, the FRLAEF supports sound educational experiences in preparation for dynamic and rewarding tourism careers. We accomplish this mission by implementation of industry developed school-to-career programs through interaction with students, instructors and industry leaders.

 
    Miami Beach High School Wins 4th Annual Florida LMP Competition  
   

Congratulations to Miami Beach High School--winners of the 4th Annual Florida LMP Competition.  The 4th Annual LMP Competition took place January 23-24, 2007 at the Best Western Lake Buena Vista in the Orlando area.  This exciting, two-day competition allowed competitors to demonstrate their hospitality knowledge by competing in a question-and-answer knowledge bowl, complete room inspections, night audit tasks, analyze two case studies (one in Food and Beverage and the other in Sales and Marketing) as well as demonstrate their knowledge, skills and abilities in planning an event, to include the invitation, BEO (Banquet Event Order), menu and floor plan.  


Miami Beach High School will represent Florida at the National LMP Competition which takes place at the Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, April 11-13, 2007. 

Two other LMP schools participated in the competition, Mid-Florida Technical and Oak Ridge High School.  Mid-Florida Technical took first place in the Knowledge Bowl and Oak Ridge High School won first place in the Hospitality Project.
