
Annual ProStart Culinary Team Competition
The Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association Educational Foundation (FRLAEF) sponsors the ProStart Culinary Team Competitions each year. This event is designed to provide an avenue of recognition for outstanding ProStart students and their schools. The event takes various topics covered in the ProStart curriculum and incorporates the material into a competition. All Florida ProStart high schools are invited to participate in this event.
The event is comprised of four separate competitions: Gourmet Meal Competition, Management Competition, Edible Centerpiece Competition and Waiters Relay.
First through fifth place in each competition is assigned points. The team with the most points at the end of the event will win the Traveling ProStart Culinary Cup. Students placing in each competition will receive medals as well as scholarships from various universities. The teams that win the Gourmet Meal Presentation and the Knowledge Bowl will advance to the National ProStart Student Invitational, sponsored by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF).
