Culinary Arts and Food & Beverage Programs

New England Culinary Institute offers a unique hands-on learn-by-doing approach to education based in small class settings.  The Associate of Occupational Studies (AOS) degree in Culinary Arts and the Associate of Science in Baking and Pastry Arts are designed for candidates who wish to become professional chefs and bakers.  The programs are geared towards transforming a passion for food and cooking into a career, training future chefs for the real world in our restaurants, catering, and food service operations to ensure ample on-the-job training.  The programs offer two paid internships.  The AOS degree in Food and Beverage is intended for candidates who have a desire to pursue a career as a restaurant manager.  It provides a basic knowledge of culinary arts and focuses on front-of-the-house management training.  The Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Food & Beverage Management provides comprehensive top-of-the-house food and beverage management training.  Students in these programs complete on paid internship.

Program Term                           BA program is 1 ½ years with 92 credits, enrolling in

                                                   March and September; AOS in Food & Beverage

                                                   Management is 1 ½ years with 97 credits, enrolling in

                                                   March and September; AOS in Culinary Arts is 2 years

                                                   with 115 credits, enrolling March, June, September and

                                                   December.  AOS in Baking and Pastry is 2 years with

                                                   111.5 credits, enrolling March, June, September and

                                                   December.        

 

Academic Credit                       ProStart graduates can apply for the Advanced Placement                                                   Program.  Credits are awarded based on successful                                                   completion of assessment tests.

 

Work Experience Credit           ProStart students can apply for the Accelerated Program

                                                  that allows students to advance into the second                                                   year from their first residency omitting the first internship.

 

Scholarships                             Institutional Scholarships ranging from $500 to $5,000

                                                 are available.  The National Restaurant Association                                                  and New England Culinary offer matching scholarships                                                  worth $4,000. 

 

Annual Cost                             Associates in Baking and Pastry Arts and Culinary Arts

                                                 $20,995; Associates and Bachelors in Food and Beverage

                                                 $18,650 for first year, $13,605 for second year.
