Congratulations to the 2005 ProStart Teacher of the Year
Carol Cox Stewart, Pro-Start instructor at Jupiter High School, was nominated by fellow teachers, a post secondary
chef-instructor, her supervisor and her principal to become the 2005 ProStart Teacher of the Year. Carol earned her
Bachelor of Science at Texas Tech University and her Masters at Webster University. She has been teaching at Jupiter
High School for 21 years. In addition to teaching ProStart, Carol has worked hard to place students in foodservice
jobs and guide students toward the ProStart Certificate of Achievement. Carol serves on several local advisory boards,
including Johnson & Wales University and Florida Culinary Institute. She is also an active member of the Palm Beach
Chapter of the Florida Restaurant Association.
2005 ProStart Mentor of the Year
A major component of the ProStart School to Career program is job site training. This mentor experience enriches the
student as well as the mentor. The 2005 Mentor of the Year is Kipper Greist, owner of Jumby Bay Island Grill in
Jupiter. Kipper currently has five ProStart students working at his restaurant. He not only provides a clean and
safe work environment but also teacher and promotes a strong work ethic at his restaurant. In addition to hiring
ProStart students, Kipper has been an active participant in the Prostart program at Jupiter High School for five years.
He has done everything from critiquing the students competition meals to serving on the advisory board.
2005 Mary J. Brogan Hospitality Scholarship Recipient
The recipient of the 2005 Mary J. Brogan Hospitality Scholarship is Angeline Wirth from Chamberlain High School in
Tampa. Angeline has a 5.1 weighted GPA. She has maintained this GPA while working in the foodservice Industry since
she was 13 years old. She first worked at a concession stand, then at Panera Bread and currently at Tijuana Flats, a
Mexican restaurant in Tampa. Angeline is also captain of Chamberlain High Schools cheerleading squad, past
Editor-in-Chief of the school yearbook, class treasurer for three years in a row and vice President of Public
Relations for FCCLA. She is a member of the CAPS Advanced Placement Program, National Honor Society and the National
Technical Honor Society.
